now here is a simple way to remove your "windows genuine advantage notification" that pops up every time when you start xp. one thing everybody knows is that this notification comes only when you have duplicate copy of the windows.

1.PREVENTION IS BETTER THAN CURE:

If you have the duplicate copy of windows, the first thing you need to do is to "TURN OFF YOUR AUTOMATIC UPDATES".for those of you who dont know how to do it, here it is

step1: start->control panel

step2:doubleclick "automatic updates"

step3:click on the last option "turn off automatic updates"

step4:click "apply" and then "okay"

thats it!!!.....now you have prevented your duplicate copy from detection by microsoft.

2.I AM ALREADY AFFECTED:

okay hare are the steps....

step1: as soon as you see the notification on the lower right of your screen just close it. right click on the "star"(BLUE COLOUR) symbol in the "notifications area"(it is in the extereme right of your screen in the toolbar) and select "exit".

step2:press "ctrl+alt+delete" to invoke the task manager. within the task manager in the "processes" tab search for a process named "wgatray.exe". once found, just click on that process and select "end process". in the warning dialog box that pops up press"okay"

step3: select start->run-> then type "regedit"(without  ""). then browse for the following path in the registry "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon\Notify". delete the folder "wgalogon" by right clicking and selecting "delete" option.

step4:restart your system in "safe mode with command prompt".

step5:in the command prompt.

1.if you have "c:\documents and settings\user" and all in the first line just type cd\ .if you only have "c:\" leave this step and continue to next step

2.type "cd windows" (without the qoutes)

3.cd system32

4.dir wgatray.exe

5.it will say "FILE FOUND"

6.del wgatray.exe

step 5: now press "ctrl+alt+delete" and select "restart"

now when the system restarts the notification will not come.
